Keeping Your PNB Digital Account Access Secure in the Face of New Threats

Digital banking has undeniably transformed how we manage our finances. Opening an account, sending funds, shopping, and investing have become easier than ever, thanks to online and app-based banking. While tools like PNB Digital enhance security through measures such as multi-factor authentication and biometrics, the banking industry still faces significant cybersecurity threats.

In 2025, some customers are still grappling with common cybersecurity risks, including data breaches, ransomware, and phishing. Additionally, there’s a concerning trend on social media where illegitimate accounts falsely claim to be bank employees to offer products and services in exchange for monetary compensation.

Given the prevalence of cybersecurity scams, it’s crucial to remain vigilant. Here are five ways to protect yourself:

  1. Always update to the latest version of your app and your device’s operating system. Updates often include security enhancements that can address vulnerabilities or bugs that can exploit your system or data when activated.
  2. Enable Additional Security Features: Your access to PNB Digital account is protected by your username andlogin password, but you can enhance security with features like by activating biometrics Biometric Authentication and the PNB Digital Key.
  3. Avoid Public Wi-Fi: When accessing your phone, steer clear of public Wi-Fi networks. These can expose you to malware, spyware, unencrypted data transmissions, and man-in-the- middle attacks.
  4. Keep Account Details Confidential: Never share your account and login details as well your, One-Time PIN (OTP) to anyone. The bank will never ask these types of information from you.
  5. Do not click on links. The bank will not send any external links through email and SMS. Clicking these links, even from supposedly legitimate senders, might lead to fraudulent websites used by scammers.
  6. Report any suspicious activity to PNB’s official customer channels: If you encounter any suspicious messages, links from unknown sources, or unusual transactions, report them immediately to PNB Customer Care at 85738888 or via email at customercare@pnb.com.ph.

By following these tips, we can cultivate safe online habits while banking. Let’s remain aware and vigilant in protecting ourselves and our loved ones from cybersecurity threats, making the digital world safer for everyone.
