PNB supports BSP efforts on Cyber Hygiene
As part of its initiatives under the Check-Protect-Report (CPR) strategy, the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) reminds the public to be critical of text messages they receive, to avoid SMiShing.
SMiShing is a fraudulent practice that aims to obtain personal information through a link included in a text message.
E-Safety is everyone’s responsibility. The BSP encourages the public to always do the CPR, or CHECK-PROTECT-REPORT, when making financial transactions.
- CHECK – Check whom you are talking to. Banks and financial institutions will only ask for your personal information if you initiate a call through their official hotlines to make an inquiry or transaction.
- PROTECT – Protect confidential information. Do not provide your personal data, account details, or passwords to senders of random text messages or emails.
- REPORT – Report incidences of scams and suspicious transactions to your banks or financial institutions immediately if you think your account has been compromised.
