Palawan is an island province of the Philippines which is well known to tourists as an untouched paradise. Its rural and rugged terrain is what gives it its charm. Although for the locals, this means that much of the area remains under developed especially in terms of transportation and utilities. Many residents of the island have to travel far distances either by boat or by bus to Puerto Princesa City to buy goods, avail of basic services, and to pay for their monthly utilities such as water and electricity.
In its drive to bring innovative care to Filipinos, Philippine National Bank (PNB), one of the largest banks in the country, has partnered with CIS Bayad Center, Inc.(Bayad Center), the country’s biggest and widest multi-channel bills payment platform in the Philippines, to provide an economical payment solution to subscribers of Palawan Electric Cooperative (PALECO).
Held at the PALECO Main Office in Puerto Princesa, a tripartite agreement was signed among Bayad Center, PNB, and PALECO to introduce BAYAD CONNECT. BAYAD CONNECT is Bayad Center’s first mobile retailer app that allows small business owners of sari-sari stores, convenient stores, bakeries, and other neighbourhood sundry shops to accept bills payment for PALECO, e-loading services, and other transactions. This makes BAYAD CONNECT an additional revenue generator for micro-businesses as well as a convenient and economical option for locals in hard-to-reach places to pay their bills, e-load and do other financial transactions.
Thanks to the partnership of Bayad Center, PNB and PALECO, BAYAD CONNECT promises to bring better business opportunities for micro-businesses and a more convenient bills payment experience for Palaweños and, soon, to other provinces. Those who are interested to become a retail agent and would like to inquire more about BAYAD CONNECT may call the BAYAD CONNECT Team: Rye Velunta +63(932)868-4727 or Jimmy Agripa +63(917)867-0411.
